Dapsone, also known as Aczone, is a topical antibiotic gel that is only available with a doctors prescription. It is mainly used for the control of Acne in teenagers and adults but may be prescribed for other skin infections as well.

How is Dapsone administered?

Dapsone is a topical treatment and as such it is applied to affected areas of the skin on teenaged and adult patients. It is necessary to wash the skin with warm water prior to the application of Dapsone. After drying the skin by patting, apply a thin layer to the affected skin twice a day, both morning and evening. For children under the age of twelve, consult your doctor on specific dosages and application.

If you miss a dose of Dapsone, just apply it as soon as you remember. If it is close to time for your next dose, skip the forgotten dosage and resume your regular schedule. Dapsone has similar storage requirements to other medications of it's type. Keep it away from children and pets. Do not expose Dapsone to extreme temperatures or direct light. Do not keep outdated medicine around. If you must discard the medication for any reason, contact your pharmacist for proper disposal methods.
