Danocrine is also referred to as Danazol. It is a derivative of the steroid ethisterone which has a molecular structure similar to testosterone. Danocrine is used for treating endometriosis in women. Endometriosis is a condition of lining abnormalities in the uterus. Danacrine treatment for women is used to improve the lining within the uterus. This misplacement of the uterus, as common in endometriosis, affects the menstrual cycle leading to internal bleeding.

Mechanism

Danocrine works by decreasing the release of pituitary hormones, luteinizing hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormone. Danocrine is antiproliferative meaning it stops internal bleeding such as occurring with endometrium. By enabling enhanced treatment within the endometrium, women are able to avoid getting amenorrhea. Also, symptoms such as pelvic pain are also improved.

Side effects

Danocrine is not a GnRH agonists. This means that women do not face hot flashes and they are not prone to osteoporosis. However women can face other side effects which include-

1 Menstrual cycle
As endometrium is the uterus lining, this medication affects the blood flow during the menstrual cycle. Women found to be allergic to Danocrine may incurr profuse bleeding leading to disturbances in the menstrual cycle.

2 Pregnancy
Women prone to having side effects when taking Danocrine should stop taking it immediately as it can lead to the masculinization of the uterus walls. Danocrine does contribute to the prevention of pregnancy but is not an effective contraceptive.

3 Other side effects
Other side effects that could result through consuming Danocrine include dizziness, vomiting, head ache, depression and disturbances of the sleep patterns.

Usage

Danocrine should only be taken under the supervision of a physician. Depending on how severe one's condition is Danocrine should only be used depending upon the severity of the endometriosis and or the presence of cystic lumps on the breasts.

Hormonal regulation during mid-aged women becomes a complex issue particularly when hormones have to be released at the right time. Improper release of hormones may trigger retarded development of the uterus which can be seen as endometriosis.

Danocrine continues to be an effective treatment for endometriosis and other growth related development in women have related to sexual development. Hormones such as FSH and pituitary hormone regulate blood flow within women. If they are not released at the appropriate time then women may risk complications in their uterus.
